Carl Johan Hasselrot has been captivated by symmetrical shapes from an early age, expressing his creativity through drawing and crafting simple geometric wooden structures. His innate love for design led him to Hyper Island in Sweden in 2010, where he pursued motion design, a field that felt like a perfect match for his artistic inclinations.
After honing his skills in Australia and New Zealand, working at various studios and gaining diverse experience, Carl Johan returned to Sweden in 2017. It was during this period that he found inspiration in the works of other artists who committed to daily creative challenges. Motivated by their dedication, he embarked on a personal project to create one animation every week for a year. This challenge not only deepened his passion for motion design but also helped him refine his craft and develop a unique artistic voice.
Seven years later, Carl Johan continues this weekly practice, finding endless joy and inspiration in the process. His animations, characterized by their intricate symmetry and dynamic movement, have garnered attention and admiration within the creative community. Beyond his personal work, Carl Johan is also committed to pushing the boundaries of motion design, exploring new techniques, and continually evolving as an artist. His journey reflects a deep commitment to his craft and an enduring passion for creating visually striking and meaningful work.
