Displaay Type Foundry

Displaay is an independent type foundry established by designer Martin Vácha in 2014, based in the vibrant city of Prague. Renowned for its dedication to both retail and custom typefaces, Displaay is driven by a purpose to craft authentic and distinctive type designs that celebrate imperfections and aesthetic irregularities. The foundry's work stands out for its commitment to creating typefaces that are not just functional but also imbued with unique character and charm.

In 2022, Displaay launched the "Displaay Offline" project, a natural extension of their design philosophy. This initiative emerged from a desire to explore the physical and tactile aspects of type design by creating objects and books that feature their custom typefaces. The project represents a shift from digital to tangible, allowing Displaay to showcase their typefaces in limited-edition collections of items and printed materials that they deeply cherish.

The "Displaay Offline" project highlights the foundry's commitment to blending type design with physical form, producing a range of unique objects that celebrate the beauty of their typefaces in everyday life. Each collection is crafted with care and precision, offering a curated selection of items that reflect the foundry’s aesthetic values and design ethos. By sharing these creations with others, Displaay aims to spread the joy and appreciation for their work, allowing people to experience their typefaces in new and meaningful ways.

Through its ongoing projects and collections, Displaay continues to push the boundaries of type design, exploring new avenues for creative expression while remaining true to its core values of authenticity and irregularity. The foundry’s innovative approach and dedication to craftsmanship ensure that every typeface and object they produce is a testament to their passion for design and their commitment to creating work that resonates on both visual and emotional levels.
