Entangled bodies become unstable, churning amalgamations of faces and fleshy digital artifacts. Motion data captured during a strange pas de deux with a life-size ragdoll animates 3D avatars, which are then processed through custom-built AI processes trained on the artist’s likeness. The resulting figures are hypnotizing and disruptive. They challenge human and machine predictive perception, teasing our desire to see and pulling attention into a loop it cannot resolve. By hijacking deepfake tools, the work reclaims agency from the automated systems that ordinarily direct our gaze, proposing excess as resistance.
