GIANT SIGNALS: NEW YORK

25 - 27 September 2026

GIANT SIGNALS transforms the monumental LED billboards of Times Square into a temporary cultural infrastructure, where contemporary art moves beyond the white cube to encounter the city at architectural scale

GIANT SIGNALS transforms the monumental LED screens of 5 Times Square, New York City, into a temporary platform for contemporary artistic research.

Presented by Art Innovation from September 25–27, 2026, during The Armory Show week, the exhibition brings together 43 international artistic practices working across digital art, moving image, artificial intelligence, generative systems, photography, architecture and expanded media.

The exhibition is articulated through three complementary modes of participation: 30 practices selected by an international Curatorial Committee, 10 selected through Social Engagement, and three artists — Angela Nikolau, Ariadna Canaan and Susi Sie — invited directly by Art Innovation.

The participating artists’ trajectories intersect with major international institutions and cultural platforms including MoMA, the Venice Biennale, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, ZKM, Ars Electronica, the Louvre Museum, Whitechapel Gallery, Manifesta and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Conceived specifically in relation to the scale and visual conditions of Times Square, GIANT SIGNALS considers the monumental digital screen as a contemporary exhibition infrastructure — a space where artistic research, technology and public life intersect.

The project forms part of Art Innovation’s ongoing research into exhibition formats beyond conventional cultural venues, examining how existing infrastructures of communication can temporarily operate as spaces for contemporary culture and public encounter.

GIANT SIGNALS will be live daily from 6:30 PM, New York local time, at 5 Times Square.
